Most of you don’t realize how joyful I am. We now have a Spanish translation of our Cancer-Free (4th Edition) book of ultra-high quality. If I’m joyful, my wife Terry is “over the Moon.” She is Spanish, born and raised in Barcelona. As we speak, she is there now delivering copies of our Spanish translation to several of her friends with cancer in Spain. This is a culmination of about 10 years of her urging (nagging?) me to get this book in Spanish.
The reason this is such a biggee is that there are more Spanish speakers in the world than English speakers. With this quality translation, we can literally help many thousands of people in Europe, United States, Mexico, Central America and South America. There is no limit to the needs and opportunities to help these people.
THE CHAMPION TRANSLATOR
Terry and I feel blessed. Almost exactly a year ago, we were visited (on August 22nd, 2014) by Abelardo Gonzalez and his wife, Tete. They were proposing to us a project to translate our Cancer-Free book into Spanish. Terry was thrilled. Abelardo is a prominent owner of a business. His business is in Mexico City and they live in San Luis Potosi in Mexico. They had read our book, were impressed and had already begun helping cancer patients in Mexico.
Terry and I visited them in San Luis Potosi in October, 2014 and met many of their friends who were very interested in this project. Tete and Abelardo put us up in one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever seen. They arranged for me to give presentations to large groups of people in their beautiful home in San Luis Potosi and a restaurant in San Miguel de Allende. Abelardo was obviously quite busy with his business but was so dedicated to this project that we felt sure he would be able to do it. Tete was helping a lot, too.
We were right. It took him almost exactly a year, but working nights and weekends, Abelardo got it done. They visited us twice more during that year, introduced us to Abelardo’s brother who lives in Austin, Texas and spent a lot of time with Terry going over grammar issues and the choice of words. I don’t speak Spanish, but obviously there were issues to make the text as attractive to those in Europe and South and Central America as those in Mexico.
What is proof to me that God was behind this effort is that Abelardo and Tete asked for not one cent of payment for this translation. These two wonderful people had the same commitment to helping others with cancer that Terry and I have had for 17 years. They, of course, will get a commission on every sale of this translated version, but the year-long effort they put in has not yet been compensated at all. Think about it. This involved a complete year of work at nights and on weekends, travel to various places and the expenses involved. These are beautiful people!!
Once his translation was finished, Abelardo submitted it to a college professor in San Luis Potosi for critique of the grammar and spelling. Abelardo worked out an Index. Once that was done, we submitted it to my publisher (Booklocker) for formatting the Table of Contents, page headings, etc. Tete and Terry meanwhile worked on an attractive cover design and we got a cover specialist to take their suggestions and design a spectacular, beautiful cover.
Finally, about September 1st, it went to the printer. We barely received some copies in time for Terry to take them with her to Spain on September 9th.
I am telling you this story for a couple of reasons: 1) I want you to understand the effort that has been put into this wonderful, high quality Spanish-language translation; and 2) I want you to feel confident to recommend it to anyone you know who is more comfortable with Spanish than English. Would you buy it for them? Why not? Believe me, between us we can help lots of Spanish speakers overcome their cancers. I know of no other similar book available to them in their language with the history of this one.
Here’s where you can order it now as either an e-book or printed copy: http://booklocker.com/books/8223.html
That page at that link above will print in either Spanish or English. You make the choice. Of course, the old “Buy the Book” page at my website has that link as well. The website is http://www.Beating-Cancer-Gently.com. Send your Spanish speaking friends there or to the link above. Believe me, you and they will be very glad you did.
